Three years ago this month, I took a leap and started AlcComply. At the time, I wasn’t entirely sure where the journey would take me, but I knew this: after more than a decade in municipal licensing, I had the tools—and the passion—to make the process easier for business owners.
During my years as a licensing administrator, I had the privilege of working alongside patient colleagues, town counsels, and city solicitors who generously explained Massachusetts General Laws and how they shaped every municipal license. I learned the intricacies of the law, but my greatest teachers were often the business owners themselves. Many came to my office excited about their dreams but overwhelmed by the maze of requirements. I’ll never forget hearing again and again, “Why does it have to be this complicated?”
Those conversations lit the spark for AlcComply. I wanted to bridge the gap between municipalities and businesses, to make licensing and permitting less intimidating and more achievable.
Over the years, certain lessons have become the foundation of how I work with clients today:
- Responsiveness builds trust. Prompt replies reassure clients they’re being heard.
- Collaboration is key. Working with municipal departments and the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission keeps projects moving.
- Knowledge matters. A deep understanding of Massachusetts General Laws and regulations prevents costly mistakes.
- Documentation protects everyone. Recording details in writing ensures accuracy and accountability.
- Listening shapes solutions. Every client’s needs are unique and deserve tailored guidance.
- Details make the difference. Precision is what turns a frustrating process into a successful outcome.
Since launching AlcComply, I’ve been honored that several attorneys trust me to guide their clients through licensing. Together, we not only complete applications, but also reduce the stress and uncertainty that can come with them.
As I celebrate three years in business, I’m grateful for the clients and colleagues who have trusted me, and am excited to continue helping Massachusetts businesses and attorneys turn challenges into opportunities—one license at a time.
